Introducing the CODE41 T360 Tourbillon

Conceived by British watchmaker John Arnold, and developed and patented by his friend Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, the tourbillon is seen by many as the pinnacle of mechanical watchmaking. A complicated addition to a timekeeper, designed to increase accuracy, and only available at very high cost, to an incredibly small group of aficionados.

Until today, with the launch of the CODE41 T360 Tourbillon – A new community developed creation from Lausanne based CODE41, an independent Swiss watch brand that has opened up the world of haute horology through a total transparency pre-order system that ensures only the watches that people want to buy are created.

The Holy Grail of Watchmaking

Considered the ‘Holy Grail’ of watchmaking by many watchfans, the tourbillon – originally developed to improve accuracy – is today valued for the mesmerizingly balletic movement that this unique mechanism brings to a wristwatch. And as a truly modern interpretation of this 220 year old invention, the tourbillon found in the new CODE41 T360, is reliable, robust, accurate and affordable. Something that can be attributed to the choice of a single-axis tourbillon, where the combined escapement and balance wheel are housed within a cage that completes one full rotation every 60 seconds. While this may be the simplest form of tourbillon, it still requires a minimum of 60 components to function, and given that the complete mechanism typically weighs under 1 gram, it is undeniably a spectacular, and fascinating feat of modern Swiss watchmaking.

A watch as Unique as its Wearer

With more than 200 possible combinations including customisable bridges, hands, straps and cases, the new CODE41 T360 Tourbillon can be customised to the unique taste of each owner. With customers able to choose combinations of dial and hand colours, types of strap and bracelet and even case design, with a new Stratom case joining the familiar NativeDNA found elsewhere in CODE41’s collections.

Constructed from Grade 5 Titanium, the fully skeletonised CODE41 T360 two case options are both 42mm in diameter, with the new Stratom case coming in at 0.3mm thicker than the original 12mm thick NativeDNA. Encased front and back with anti-reflective sapphire crystal, to provide a clear view of the fascinating mechanism at work. As the sun sets and the light dips low, you’ll be able to keep a close eye on the time (and the tourbillon) thanks to Super-LumiNova applied to the hands, indices and the bridge of the tourbillon cage.

Limited to 150 Creator Edition Pieces

Available to pre-order from April 19, the CODE41 T360 Tourbillon will be available in an initial edition of 150 Creator Edition pieces, with prices starting from 9,898 CHF/10,998 EUR/9,590 GBP/9,598 USD for the titanium NativeDNA case with a leather strap.
