Breitling Superocean

Breitling Superocean – A Minimized Diver from Breitling

As high as the sky and as deep as the sea. It could be said that the Superocean is Grenchen’s response to the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. After its conquest of the skies, Breitling set its sights on triumphing over the elements and has kept pace with its diving watch counterparts from Rolex, Omega, and Doxa. Since 1957, it has been one of the divers’ go-to-brands. These series of divers’ watches are so versatile not only are they capable of deep oceanic exploration, but also snagging all the attention on tasteful or illustrious occasions.

It’s well known that Breitling feels right at home in aviation, it is after all, home turf. However, the same can also be said for all kinds of underwater based ventures. When viewing its product line in its entirety, these two elements form essential pillars in this brands craftsmanship and market endeavors. If the COSC testing body is anything to go by, then the Superocean has doubtlessly earned its certification. While its sibling the Avenger is more tailored towards divers’ timepieces, the Superocean is a multi-purpose sports watch. Once a world record chaser, it now focuses more on providing a classic look and at the same time doesn’t downplay any requirements necessary for its extreme exploits.

Superocean broken down into numbers – Top 5 Facts

2: Two diving watch collections

The Breitling Superocean was first launched in 1957. From this point forward, Breitling has served its clientele in the diving watch genre and has served them well. The Superocean isn’t just the only diving watch collection from this traditional brand from Grenchen. Sometime later the Avenger and the Seawolf joined its portfolio. The Seawolf is a watch that is water resistant up to 3,000 metres.

2,400: Under two-thousand, four hundred GBP

The automatic version of the Superocean is available at Montredo for a bit below 2400,- GBP, which is an excellent value for this premium timepiece.

500: Five hundred metres water resistant

While most of the recent Superocean versions are water resistant up to 200 metres, the Superocean Blackfish can withstand water pressure up to 50 Bars, which in laboratory conditions is 500 metres.

1: Uni-directional divers’ bezel

The diving time is configured over the bezel of the Superocean. Once the minute hand reaches the triangle on the bezel, then it’s time for the diver to resurface. Today, it’s a standard feature by most diving watches. The bezel can only be turned counter clockwise, so that there’s no possibility of an improper time configuration and endangerment of the diver. The profile of the bezels borders has a good grip, which is definitely an advantage when your hands are wet or submerged in water.

6: A maximum of + six seconds per day

All Breitling watches are COSC certified. The manufacturer has guaranteed a rate variation of -4 to +6 seconds. By higher rate variations, the watch can be reconfigured on a timing device or undergo maintenance.
